Star Explorer game by FGU!

Once again we delve into the backlog and pull out a game from 1982!! Star Explorer, a space adventure board game that can mesh with the Starships & Spacemen RPG.

 Players:

Mark E. and Mightyeroc.

We set up the game and just played a single player test session. A standard game is supposed to last 20 turns. We tried to see if we could accomplish the mission to explore 4 planets and solve the quests involved on each one.

The board set-up

Somehow all 4 planets that we need to explore ended up at the maximum distance away from the Starbase starting point. This was going to be a tough test game session.

The ship and crew

Battle with the Zangid!
Halfway to the 1st planet we ran afoul of a Zangid cruiser! We damaged them enough to cause them to retreat, while we suffered only minor damage.

Lots of Stellar encounters
On the way to the second planet the encounters kept coming! We had a Space cloud, an Asteroid field and lastly a Gravity Well, before finally reaching the 2nd planet on our roster.

All in all this turned out to be a really cool little game, and has great combo-potential for use with Starships & Spacemen RPG. We will be following this up with a second session where will try a two player co-op game.

Check back soon Space Cadets!!!

For valor, fairness and truth! THE JOUST part 2.

A Test of Arms!

Part 2 of our summer Tournament series. Today we see some knights test each other in their skill at arms!

Take the field

The knights take the field in a test of arms against each other. We used the cool little card game from Games Workshop called Chivalry, it was never actually produced and it's a shame. We had a great time with it and will be using it more!

Attack cards

Defence Cards

Round 1: Sir Chad vs. Sir Von Rook

It seems Sir Chad the boisterous young knight errant has called Sir Rook's wife a bloated warthog!

Sir Rook vs. Sir Chad

The clash between them was our longest and ended with Sir Chad getting the best of Rook!

Round 2: Sir Windforge vs. Sir Necrobane ( these knights participated in the Joust).

Sir Windforge vs. Sir Necrobane

There was a moment when it looked like Necrobane was going to win, but in the end Windforge was triumphant and sent the cromson knight packing!

Round 3: Knight Errant of house Rook vs. Knight Errant of King's Court

A pair of knight's errant

This pairing was the second longest test of arms, as we exhausted both stacks of Attack and Defence cards. In the end the young knight from King's Court won the test!

All in all, this worked out really well. We shall be adding this in with our Full Tilt! rules and create a full Tournament game with jousting, archery, and test of arms!

More figures are being prepared and a nice tournament grounds playing area is being put together as well.

Watch out for more Medieval fun coming soon!
