GALACTA 25: Terrain update

Some cool Retro-style terrain for GALACTA 25 games!

Picked up this set on Amazon. Figured it would come in handy for scatter terrain for my Galacta 25 games and even find some use in RPG's as well.

Overall really happy with the set. If I felt like spending time on it I could even spruce up the pieces with some modeling and basing.

For now I'm just going to use them as is. See the photos below.

25mm Heritage Galacta 25 miniatures for scale.

Here is a closer look at everything you get in the set:

A few pieces are a little big for 25mm figures but no so terribly much it will really matter for what I'm using them for.

Warm up your Lasers and get ready for battle!!!

White Star: News from the FEED

Turn On, Tune In, and let the FEED bring you the latest in News & Entertainment!

FEED Anchor - Skip Skippington.

Skip: Good evening, I'm Skip Skippington and this is Sector News. Our top story this evening is the launch of the Serena Dawn II, from Starline Cruises. They are offering a fantastic deal on trips to all the top vacation destinations in Kelron as well as stops in Pavonis and Spartha sectors. Amber alerts from G.C. Authority may apply so check with your Travelbot agents.

Pirate activity sector wide has seen an almost 100% decline since the increase in Consortium patrol craft along all Green star lanes. Remember, you're only as safe as you allow the Consortium to make you.

We now go to our GSPN correspondant live at Starlight Stadium on Andala station. Gort, what do have for us tonight?

Gort: Thank you Skip. As all Astro-ball fans know today is the one year memorial of the tragic accident that took last years Sector Championship team from us. Team Nova was on their victory tour of the Kelron sector when a catastrophic solar flare emergence in the binary Tannoa system destroyed their ship. The only survivor was Star player number 81, B00m-5haka-L0c4a. Or as we knew and loved him: BOOM SHAKA LOCKA!
Unfortunatley, Black Box data records from the doomed Team transport ship revealed BOOM was responsible for taking the ship off standard course to a Red-Light District Space station that put them in range of that same solar flare! The Computia corporation lost ownership of the team contract and had to let BOOM go after finding him responsible for the one billion credit loss. BOOM was suffering from major EMP disruption and was saved from total Terminal Offline Erasure by his legal team. That however left BOOM with barely a few hundred credits to his name and the Astro-Ball League barred him from ever playing again. BOOM has since gone dark and is as far as anyone knows a server-less bot, probably swilling reheated lubricant in a dive bar at the fringe of the galaxy somewhere.

However, I have great news for all you Astro-ball fans! The Socity Corporation has taken over ownership of the Team Nova contract, and here tonight I bring you a live training game of the new & improved Astro-ball Nova team rookies for this season!! This will put a comet in the exhaust port of team Black-Star, as they thought they would have no competition for the championship this season. How quickly the galaxy turns, right Skip!

This has been Gort Bantro for the Galactic Sports Network.

Skip: Wow, you said it Gort! I can't wait to see what this new Team Nova brings to the court! But now a word from our sponsors.

Skip: In other news, Consortium forces clashed with a small rebel terrorist cell hidden on a moon bordering the Kelron and Venturi Sector. It is known that the Solar Alliance has been supplying weapons to these small groups who have been harrasing civilian and corporate business instrests sector wide. Remember, if you have information or suspect criminal activity contact your nearest Galactic Consortium authorities. We can all keep each other safe.

Brinn Beta station has been marked as off limits to all space traffic, the core malfunction has made the station a system wide hazard. GC patrols will be diverting all traffic throught Brinn Alpha station, so be prepared for delays.

GC authorities have reason to suspect wanted criminal Crystophan Marrs may be in the Tannoa system. If you have information or see this person call local Sec-units or GC forces immeditely. Do not approach as this being is considered dangerous.

Stay tuned for more . . . .

GALACTA 25: Galactic Rebellion

Battles in Quadrant 44! The Solar Alliance vs. The Galactic Consortium.

Using the Hertiage games rules from 1980. Two skirmish battles were played to determine the current situation in the White Star RPG taking place on the borders of  Red Shift sector Kelron and Blue Shift sector Venturi.

Players:  Mightyeroc and Mark E.

Solar Alliance forces:  64pts
1 Leader/ Star Knight Swordsman
1 Rebel Adventurer
1 Female Assault leader
1 Alien Squog
1Planetary Striker Officer
1 Planetary Striker Trooper
1 Security Robot

Galactic Consortium forces: 72pts
1 Stormtrooper Officer
2 Stormtroopers
1 Octopoid Section Leader ( Hired Mercenaries)
1 Octopoid Cannonier
1 Octopoid Grenadier
1 Warbot

The 8 point difference is on purpose as the G.C. has considerably better supplies and access to reinforcements than the S.A.  This can change depending upon the actions of the Players in the White Star: Star Rogues campaign and the outcomes of these miniature battles.

Battle 1: GC ground assault.

This battle started off with the loss of the Rebel Adventurer and the Alien squog in the 2nd Turn by the Warbot and Stormtrooper Officer. By turn 3 the Solar Alliance inflicts heavy casualties on the GC taking out the Octopoid cannonier and both Stormtroopers.

Star Knight dispatches Octopoid Cannonier.
Turns 4 & 5 go poorly for the Solar Alliance, as they lose the Planetary Strikers, Female assault leader and the Star Knight swordsman in quick succession. Leaving only the lone Security Robot to flee the Rebel position and report the attack to the remaining Alliance forces back at their command base.

For the first game I played the Solar Alliance and Mark controlled the Galactic Consortium. There were some tense moments and cries of anguish as dice rolled poorly, and hearty bellows of "Oh yeah!" as dice rolled well!

Planetary Striker defeats GC trooper in melee. Battle 1.

We then swapped forces reset the battlefield and played the second game. Since the GC won round 1, we decided they were pushing on and attacking the Command base of the Alliance forces.

Battle 2 layout. Alliance Command upper right.

Battle 2: Assault on Alliance Command.

The second battle sees the Galactic Consortium roll in Hot! The Alliance forces dig in for cover and try to hold the line!

The Octopoid Cannonier and Grenadier inflict first blood taking out the Planetary Striker and Security Robot respectively.

The Alien squog snipes a Stormtrooper, as the forces close in on each other and laser bolts scorch the landscape!

The last three turns quickly become a deveasting loss as the Consortium forces overwhelm the harried Alliance team. The Warbot blasts the Female Assault leader and alien squog, while a Stormtrooper kills the Rebel adventurer in Melee.

The Star Knight Swordsman holds the Stormtrooper Officer in melee combat for two turns before falling to his laser-sword.

The octopoid forces swoop in and clear the field of the remaining Alliance forces and the Galactic Consortium raised thier flag in victory.

GC stormtroopers move in.

Octopoid section team, deadly mercenaries.

Galactic Consortium: Victorious

Solar Alliance: Defeated

The outcome of this miniature battle will now affect the overall background in the White Star campaign. Keep your eyes peeled for more postings coming soon.

Death in Space: Solo Orbits with a friend.

What happens when you play the Death in Space: Solo rules by Astrolich with a friend?

Players: MightyEroc & Mark E.

art: Chris Foss

GAME ONE: We started with Mark creating a character. Lt. Commander Derf of the exploration craft EXO-10.

Mark made all the dice rolls and I would read the results and we both sort of co-GM'ed the scenarior together.

Lt. Commander Derf started on the bridge with the Void Power to summon a creature to fight with him, and a stun gun. The on board A.I., Major Tom told the officer things were looking bad as thier ship was drifting aimlessly somewhere in the depths of space!!

Paper, pencils, dice, and a handful of paper minis from Okumarts. We begin our journey into madness!

Derf explored quite a bit of the EXO-10, facing Hazards and battling Space Maggots, Ziggy's, an Eclipse Ooze, and finally a fatal encounter with a dreaded Roche Spider!!

Along the way he had been aided in battle by his void summoned creature/pet the space-ray. The Stim-boosters he gained from supply caches came in handy too!

Derf was only able to access 1 level of Credentials but it did gain him the FLAMETHROWER

In the end Derf was overwhelmed by the horrid Roche Spider and the fate of the EXO-10 is lost in the blackness of space.

Lt. Cmdr. Derf, Space-ray, Eclipse ooze, Space maggot.
Roche Spider and Ziggy.
All figures by OKUMARTS.

GAME 02: Mightyeroc creates a character and Mark would read the results as we both co-GM'ed.

Maintenance Technician Jensen of the EXO-11, that had been sent to discover the fate of the prior Exploration ship, finds himself on the bridge being informed by the A.I. Major Tom, that things are looking bleak!

Jensen and his conflict with Maint. Bots!
Jensen is lucky and finds a supply cache early on. He bolsters his Ballistic sidearm and Octocamo suit with a pair of Magnetic boots, Stim boosters, and a Large wrench. The wrench turns out to be a godsend as I tend to keep rolling encounters with crazed maintence robots out for blood!!

The boots come in handy as well as I seem to roll a bunch of Hazards like Antigravity and Power outage.

An early encounter with the dreaded ASTRAL LICH forces the single use of our Octocamo to escape deeper into the horrific confines of the doomed ship.

Soon Jensen is able to upgrade to Access 1 and gets a Spacesuit! A true lifesaver when the Hazard: Hull Breach is rolled!! Not to mention it saves our bacon again when we get the Hazard: Reactor Leak!!!

Meet the ASTRAL LICH!
Jensen roams far and wide throught the rooms and corridors of the EXO-11. All told Jensen had to dispatch seven Maint. Robots, a couple of Ziggy's, a handful of Space Maggots, and a Gene-Spliced Bioweapon that dang near killed our poor tech.

Eventually Major Tom went rogue and locked us out of using any further discovered supply caches. This meant a lot of backtracking and judicious use of supplies.

After dispatching a couple of Void Decayed crew and an epic battle with another Astral Lich that almost killed Jensen, he was able to gain 3 levels of Access.

At last we had to stop, and Jensen retired to the Bridge of the EXO-11, where his O2 ran out and he perished. Leaving the fate of the ship in the hands of some other crewmate to be played out in another game of: SOLO ORBITS, the solo game for DEATH IN SPACE.

White Star: Star Rogues episode 6, part 1

Episode 6: The Orpheus Cycle - part 1

Players:            date played: 1/5/24

Maximillan Arden

Yuug the Star Knight Apprentice - Selina

Maximillan Arden Aristocrat/Free Trader - Mark

N0-VAK-33: Bodyguard Robot - Deborah

Location:

Red Shift - Kelron Sector - Argon Station - Vector 14/33

Cantos had sent word that the upgrades on the Stellar Coyote were completed. Maximillan was eager to get some cargo and start trading. But first a quick stop on the the way to the docking bay for a bite to eat. "This might be my last solid meal that isn't Basic for a few weeks." Thought the young Trader to himself. Nearing the diner, Maximillan notices a very young humanoid being grifted by a Vaccsuit Salesrep!

Rep: If you need creds kid, have I got the job for you. Vacc-suit tester! You test our refurbished suits and you get paid per suit that passes inspection!

Young Humanoid: Great, how many suits do I have to test?

Rep: As many as you like my good fellow. It just depends on how much you want to earn...

Young Humanoid: I just need enough to pay for a low passage. So how much per suit?

Rep: 75cr per suit that passes inspection son! See it's a win win for you! Simple job great pay!

Arden couldn't help but overhear what was happening. "Don't get involved. This is how it starts...." thought the dashing Trader to himself. He stopped and turned around mumbling under his breath as he walked up to the Spaces-suit booth.

Max: [ placing a hand on the shoulder of the humaoind] Hang on kid, this guy is setting you up.

Young Humanoid: What are talking about mister. This sounds like a great job!?

Rep: Of course it is son, just sign this waiver and you can get started now! [ the Rep holds out his comp-tablet].

Max: Nope, he's not signing or testing anything. What's your name kid?

Young Humanoid: um, Yuug. Well, apprentice Yuug actually. I'm looking for my Master, we got separated on arrival and...

Max: [rolling his eyes, and turning back to the Rep] Find another mark, this kid's protected. [ Max flips back his cape revealing his sword to the astonsished salesman].

Rep: Oh! I see, of course young Master.

Moments later in a booth, Max is downing his third drink in as many minutes while half-paying attention to the VERY talkative apprentice Yuug.

Yuug: ... and then I realized this was another of Master's test for me. See he will purposely disappear and I have to find him. It's a training ritual that all apprentices have to endure, this is the [ the young humanoid counts to himself while wiggling his figers] thirteenth, no fourteenth trial this cycle! Master says he's amazed at how good I am at tracking him...

Max: [waving over the robo-waiter] Another Blue-Nova, and a daily special. Kid, you hungry?

Yuug: ...I even found him once on an abandoned station..hungry? Oooh, do you have Cheese Toasties?

Max: Bring two, no three of those toasties. Double up on my Nova, thanks.

Yuug: Anyway, we were looking into those slaves who were being smuggled out of this sector and I..

Max: Did you say you were on an abandoned station with your master? In this sector?

Yuug: Oh yeah, it was umm... Brinn B! Creepy place too I ....

Max: [shoving a cheese toasty in Yuug's mouth as the Robo-waiter delivers their order] Ok, yeah eat this kid, and um keep your voice down. Here it comes, I know better than to do this....

At the counter, a sleek Combat model Robot watched the pair of biologicals in the booth. The older human was showing high levels of stress, and was drinking excessivley. The younger one was very talkative and wore a distinctive clothing pattern that was quite rare. The robot rose from her stool and walked toward the pair.

N0-VAK-33
Max: [ hand sliding to his pistol, as the obvious robot moved his way] Just hold it right there, I got a thing about robots.

N0-VAK-33: Your "thing" does not concern me. However, the welfare of the youngling does. If you continue to imbibe at your current rate, my programming will not allow me leave the youngling in your care.

Max: Fine by me, he's not mine anyway.

Yuug: [between bites of toastie] ooh! A lady-bot! Are you going to copulate with it mister?? I've heard....

Max & N0-VAK-33: NO!

Max: By the Star Gods kid, I don't do that kind of...I just don't like robots. They creep me out...

N0-VAK-33: I am not a pleasure model. I am a Freelance Protective Service Agent. Lisc#BG-delta-1. At your service.

Max: A Bodyguard class? You know what, I accept the offer. [ Max pulls out a cred-stik] What are your rates?

Yuug: [eating the third toastie] you need a bodyguard mister?

N0-VAK-33: Two-hundred credit deposit, minimum 48hour contract. By the hour rates are negotiable as are longer term contracts. [ a holograpic display shimmers from the palm of the robots hand].

Yuug: Hourly rates, Master said that's copulation talk . . .

Max: [giving Yuug a shut your mouth look] Ok, I want a ten day contract with option to extend if needed and full life coverage, for the kid.

Yuug: hey, I don't need a bodyguard!

Max: Well for the next ten days, or until we locate your master, or I get you out of this sector you have one.

The players spent the following three days backtracking Yuug's arrival on thr station and the whereabouts of his elusive Master. The pair had arrived on Argon via the heavy transport ship: Tui Tokelau run by the Diginano Company. Inquiring at the ship they located a physical book left in Yuug's name. Within the book the group discovered a cypher hand written in the margins.
The code was taken to an ice-breaker that Max knew and 5 hours later they had a Starship registration code. It was determined the cod belonged to a private free trader named: Orpheus. Max was able to get a passenger manifest for the trader and they discovered the Master had purchased passage aboard her.

Max: Looks like the Orpheus is headed for the Tellian system and Andala station. If we leave now, we might be able to catch your Master on Andala.

Yuug: You have a ship! And you'll take me to meet my Master?!

Max: Against my better judgement, yes. I'm offering to take you to Andala Station.

N0-VAK-33: Let's be on our way then.

Stay tuned for part 2 of The Orpheus Cycle.
